December Team Spotlight: Lauren Dove

Here at Thompson Dove Law Group, we have a passion for building families through adoption and assisted reproduction. This passion comes from the rewarding work we do, and from the incredible team that makes all of our efforts a reality. Each month, we will give you an insider’s look into what makes life at our firm truly special.

December’s featured team member is Social Worker, Lauren Dove.

1) What is your official title?

I am an adoption counselor and a Licensed Master’s Social Worker.

2) How long have you worked at Thompson Dove Law Group?

Since August 2015.

3) Describe a typical day on the job.

A typical day for me can include any number of things! Some days involve taking expectant moms to doctor’s appointments, visiting them in the hospital after they’ve delivered, or just meeting them at their houses to talk about their options. My job is to help each of these expectant parents make a decision and plan that they feel confident about. I also work with our adoptive parents who are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their new family member!

4) Why are you passionate about adoption and assisted reproduction?

I have seen, first hand, what a wonderful thing adoption can be. In my opinion, the women who choose these plans for their children are some of the strongest people on the planet and I am happy to support and help them in any way that I can!

5) What has been your most joyous or monumental memory with the firm so far?

I have had a heart for working with expectant parents for over 8 years! The day that I accepted the position with the firm was so exciting because I knew I would be continuing to work with a people whom I deeply care for and respect!

6) Describe yourself in three words.

Considerate, flexible, outgoing.

7) What is your favorite aspect of your job?

One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to watch an expectant mom choose the adoptive family for her child. It is always amazing to see her empowered during this process and, often, the peace that is evident once she has made that selection. Of course with that comes my other favorite part of the job: calling a family to let them know they’ve been selected! I’ve heard everything from screaming to complete silence, which always makes those calls so much fun!
